
Bristol Airport tweeted saying it has been advised of an accident on the A38 blocking the road in both directions. They wrote at 12.10pm this afternoon (Sunday, September 18): “We have been advised of a Road Traffic accident on the A38 near Rooks Bridge blocking the road in both directions – near to M5 Junction 22.”
Traffic monitoring site Inrix reported the accident at around 11.24am this morning. It said: “A38 in both directions blocked, queueing traffic due to accident from The Wellington Arms Pub to Church Lane.”
Claire Abbott wrote on Twitter: “Serious RTC A38 btwn Rooks Bridge & Biddisham, nr @BristolAirport. Road completely blocked. Ambulance, Fire & Police on scene. Occurred about 11.20.”

It comes as the A46 near Bathampton in Somerset has also closed in both directions due to a “serious accident”. Inrix reported at 11,49am: “A46 in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to serious accident, two vehicles involved from A4 (Bathampton) to A420 (Cold Ashton Roundabout, Cold Ashton). Affecting traffic between Bath and the M4.”
