A trip to a Christmas market is a highlight of the festive season for many and Bristol is home to some fantastic options.
The busiest is the one which takes over Broadmead, this year running between November 8 – December 23 and bringing more than 50 stalls to the city centre.
But it isn’t the only one worth visiting in the lead-up to Christmas. Another superb market is the Harbourside Christmas Market, which takes over Bristol’s waterfront.
This year it will include 60 stalls brimming with independent Bristol spirit, local creators, vintage and flea traders, street food, live music and festive drinks.

The Watershed’s covered walkway will be transformed into a Makers’ Market, showcasing 45 of the city’s brightest small businesses and providing a one-stop-shop for unique, alternative Christmas gift ideas.
From small-batch infused Christmas tipples crafted by Espensen Spirit to handsewn leather wallets and Gingerbeard’s award-winning preserves; or from hand-poured candles and wheel-thrown ceramics to one-of-a-kind illustrations, there will be something for even those who you always struggle to find presents for, all under one roof.
Alongside the Makers’ Market, visitors can expect to find a delicious lineup of the South West’s best street food, including NYC-style hotdogs, handmade Tibetan dumplings, award-winning wings, smoked tofu tacos and jackfruit gyros, and artisan pizzas fired with wood – all sustainably sourced and cooked from fresh.
And to wash it all down the market bar will be on-hand to serve some of the very best festive drinks, such as artisan spiced Somerset cider, organic mulled wine, crisp local pilsners and winter ales.
Across the five weekends there will also be a jam-packed lineup of live music, supplying the soundtrack to keep Christmas spirits high.

When does it take place?
This year’s Harbourside Christmas Market takes place every Saturday and Sunday, from 11am-5pm, between November 23 and December 22.
Market Director Patrick Holden said: “Christmas is a special time of year on the waterfront, when we’re proud to see more of the city’s brilliant small businesses and creatives celebrated every year.
“Bristol is famous for its creative energy, and independent alternatives to the high street are where that passion really starts to shine.”
