Bristol has a high chance of seeing the snow this Christmas, according to bookmaker William Hill.
The bookmaker, which instituted betting on a white Christmas, has today announced the odds on the UK having snowfall on December 25, assigning prices to 10 major UK airports.
Edinburgh and Newcastle Airports are the bookies’ current favourites – both at 4-1 to experience snowfall on the big day.
Leeds Bradford Airport, Britain’s highest airport at more than 700ft above sea level, is 6-1 to have wintry conditions on December 25.
It is therefore surprising to see it appear alongside the likes of Birmingham, London City Airport and Dublin on 6-1.
Manchester is 13-2 while Bristol, Liverpool and Cardiff Airports are 8-1.
All that is needed for Williamhill to declare a white Christmas is the observation of a single snowflake falling in the 24 hours of December 25, at one of the 10 airports.
However, don’t get too carried away as the last true white Christmas in the UK was in 2017 – with 11 per cent of weather stations recording snow falling.
Before that, 83 per cent of weather stations saw snow on the ground in 2010, which is the highest amount ever recorded.
