BRISTOL – A Bristol man wanted on child pornography charges has turned himself in to state police.

Anthony Tenan, 37, of 153 Concord St., was found with 18 video files and 18 image files of suspected child pornography on a laptop that was seized from his apartment in February 2018, according to the warrant for his arrest.

State police last week asked for the public’s help finding Tenan, saying he could be extradited from anywhere within the country. His attorney on Tuesday said he was in contact with detectives on Monday before being told to turn himself in.

The investigation started after a member of the state police Computer Crimes and Electronic Evidence Laboratory found three videos on a peer-to-peer sharing program that were traced back to Tenan’s IP address. They contained female children who appeared between 5 and 13 years old having sex and engaging in other sex acts, the warrant said.

Just before the search of Tenan’s apartment, he told state police that he does not own a computer and that he only uses his phone, the warrant said. He left his apartment before investigators searched the unit, seizing a laptop that contained suspected child pornography on it, according to the warrant.

Tenan was held in custody Monday night after turning himself in. He was arraigned in Bristol Superior Court on Tuesday. Officials at the hearing said he has previously been convicted of strangulation, reckless endangerment, second-degree assault, assault on safety personnel, third-degree assault and breach of peace.

Tenan is being held on $250,000 bond. His case has been transferred to New Britain – where the most serious matters in the area are prosecuted. He is scheduled to appear there on April 9.
