Bristol pubs and shops buzzing in bank holiday sunshine

Bristol has been bustling with drinkers and shoppers during the first long weekend post-lockdown.

The city has almost been back to its vibrant self as day trippers, shoppers and drinkers return to meet friends and enjoy the sunshine at a safe distance.

This May Day Bank Holiday is the first three-day weekend since pubs, restaurants, cafes and non-essential retail reopened on April 12, almost three weeks ago.

People have been seeing queuing for beer gardens and shops around the city centre, making the most of the weather before the heavy rain and strong winds expected on Bank Holiday Monday tomorrow.

It comes as Bristol records its lowest daily rise in coronavirus cases in months, with just two new cases recorded in today’s official figures (Sunday, May 2).
