Bristol traffic LIVE: Police incident and crashes cause bus disruption

A busy Bristol road is now open again after a “police incident” led to a short-lived closure this afternoon (Sunday, April 24). The A420 Bell Hill Road leading to Two Mile Hill was temporarily closed in St George.

First Bus tweeted just before midday: “Due to a police incident, Bell Hill Rd/Two Mill [sic] Hill is blocked. We will be diverting via Chalks Rd, Whitehall Rd, Charlton Rd and re-joining route at Two Mile Hill Rd in both directions.” Just 10 minutes later it advised passengers that the route was clear again and diversions had been lifted.

Avon and Somerset Police has been contacted for further information. Several collisions are also causing traffic delays across Bristol this afternoon.

An accident on Filton Avenue in Horfield caused buses services to divert away from certain stops on some routes. First Bus tweeted at 11.15am: “Due to an incident, services 70 and 73 are unable to service Filton Avenue.” Traffic monitoring service Inrix reported an update at 11.30am stating that the incident had cleared, but other collisions elsewhere in the city are still causing delays.

As of 11.45am, Inrix was also reporting delays due to a collision on Northover Road between B4055 Henbury Road Henbury Hill and A4018 Passage Road. Meanwhile there is queuing traffic on the A370 Coronation Road around Greenbank Road, in the roadworks area.
