A home in North Bristol has been cordoned off by police and the Explosives Ordnance Disposal after a man was arrested on suspicion of possessing offensive weapons.
The property, on Shetland Road, is being searched this evening (Dec 28) while the man remains in police custody.
Avon and Somerset police confirmed on Twitter they were not treating it as a terrorist incident, but were taking every precaution due to the nature of the weapons found.
Posting to the Avon and Somerset Police Bristol Twitter account, officers apologised for the disruption caused.
The cordon will be in place until a comprehensive search of the property is completed.
They also confirmed the arrested man is helping them with their enquiries.
