Crash closes lane on M5 near Bristol

There was a crash on the M5 this morning which closed a lane after a vehicle “left the carriageway”.

The incident, which has now cleared, happened on the southbound carriageway at J20 Clevedon towards J21 Weston Super mare.

Highways England South West tweeted about the crash at 8.27am today (Sunday, May 23).

They confirmed that traffic officers are at the scene along with Avon and Somerset Police and Avon Fire and Rescue.

They said: “M5 southbound J20 #Clevedon towards J21 WestonSuperMare. There is a lane closure in place due to a traffic accident. Our Traffic Officers are on scene along with @AvonFireRescue and @ASPolice

“Please approach this location with care.”

A Highways England alert on their website reports it as an “accident involving a vehicle that has left the carriageway.”
