A man walking his dog has found the body of a man in a field.

The body was found close to Boundary Road in Avonmouth, Bristol, on Sunday at about 17:30 GMT.

Avon and Somerset Police said the age of the victim, who has not yet been identified, was unknown.

Police officers have now launched a murder investigation and will carry out post-mortem tests later to establish the cause of death.

Det Supt Julie Mackay said: “It looks like he was probably submerged in some water and has probably been there up to two weeks, it is not yet clear.”
