An hour into this epic, career-spanning farewell set and here’s one of the big crowdpleasers – Candle in the Wind, Elton solo without the band at his black Yamaha grand piano which is slowly moving across the stage. Impressive but slightly odd, it hasn’t stopped moving as it glides towards the Dolman
Hang on, it’s turning and parking stage right so Elton can leave the stage for the first costume change
He’s back in a light grey sparkly jacket and the piano is on the move, a bit quicker this time, they must have greased the wheels when he was changing costumes. He’s parked back in his original space and launched into the Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding, still flashing a grin at the pitch seat fans and sticking his tongue out. After 234 shows on this three year farewell tour, he’s still cleary enjoying himself
