A 16-year-old Bedminster boy has gone missing in what his family says is an “extremely out of character” disappearance.
Kaya Carr has not been seen since late in the evening of Tuesday, August 27, at his home near Parson Street.
His aunt Della Wring, 36, says the pupil of City Academy in Easton almost never stays overnight away from home.
She said: “This has never happened before. The weirdest thing is he doesn’t stay out late. He just got all A grades in his GCSEs.
“He’s not the kind of teenager who messes around. I have absolutely no idea what is going on. It is extremely out of character.
“Kaya is the type of kid who loves his home. He doesn’t like to stay anywhere else. The family are a mess, out looking all day for him.
“We have asked every single friend we have in Bristol. We have spread it miles and miles. We have not heard one thing.”
‘Nothing out of the ordinary’
Kaya had spent the evening of August 27 celebrating the birthday of another aunt, Della said.
“He was back home by 10pm,” she added. “There was absolutely nothing out of the ordinary.
“When his mum Charlene opened his bedroom door at 10am the next day, he wasn’t there.”
Della said Kaya has spent his summer holidays relaxing with his family, which is his favourite thing to do.
Her niece, Radio 1 presenter Maya Jama, a member of Kaya’s extended family, has shared an appeal for help on Twitter.
‘Very close’ family
“He has a big family,” Della said. “He is one of three, and the family are all very close. His disappearance is rippling around Bristol at the moment.”
Kaya has connections to Knowle, Fishponds, St George, St Pauls, Barton Hill, Easton and across London.
He is 6ft 2ins tall, with dark brown eyes, black hair in a short afro, and a diamond stud in his left ear. He is slim and of athletic build.
Kaya was last seen wearing dark jeans and a North Face khaki jacket.
Avon and Somerset police confirmed they are investigating the disappearance. You can contact them with information by calling 101 with reference number 5219199611.
