Heavy rain has caused chaos across the South West in recent days, causing mass flooding around the region. The weather issues have continued today (January 14) with flooding reported on several roads locally, including the M4 across the border in Wales, the A358 and A361 in Somerset.
While the flooding has led to damage across the region, it has led to some people taking advantage of the conditions to do activities they might not always be able to do in certain locations. This includes over at Keynsham, where the town’s rugby club has been turned into an impromptu lake.
Pictures taken this morning show Wayne Taylor making the most of the submerged pitch at Keynsham Rugby Club to do a bit of stand-up paddleboarding. He made his way round the ground with his board, which looks more like a lake than a pitch at the moment.

More pictures shared by the club on its Facebook page show another paddleboarder also joined Wayne on the water. In a post on their Facebook page, the club said its facilities are open today and jokingly encouraged people to watch the stand-up paddleboard team in action.
“We are also offering Lane swimming on the 1st team pitch for over 50’s between 6-8pm,” the club said on Facebook. Yesterday, it also shared images of some of the players paddling around with a rugby ball in the water while wearing ‘budgie smugglers’ swimming trunks.
