Four more people have tested positive for coronavirus in Bristol today (Monday), bringing our city’s total to 1,282.

Cases of the deadly virus shot up last week, when the figures were updated to include tests carried out in the community as well as the tests carried out in NHS and Public Health England facilities.

That resulted in Bristol’s total almost doubling from 729 to 1,276, and now the figure continues to rise.

Our city’s rate remains higher than the South West, standing at 276.6 compared to 227.9 for the region.

It also places the city significantly above Bath and North East Somerset which only has a rate of 174.9, but below North Somerset, which rate is peaking at a worrying 424.0.

According to Public Health England’s latest data, South Gloucestershire has seen an increase of two, bringing the district’s total to 742.

Both North Somerset and Bath and North East Somerset‘s totals stand unchanged, with 907 and 336 respectively.

Across the UK, there were a further 352 cases confirmed today, bringing the total number to 285,768.
