M5 traffic live: All vehicles held and ‘stationary’ amid police incident

All traffic has been held on the M5 in Somerset amid an ongoing “police incident”.

Traffic was first held around 6.40am this morning (September 25) on the northbound carriageway between junction 23 (Bridgwater North) and junction 22 (Burnham-on-Sea).

Traffic is currently described as stationary as police continue to work on the scene.

The latest from traffic monitoring service INRIX indicates all traffic is still being held as of 6.55am.

The update reads: “All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to police incident on M5 Northbound between J23 A39 (Bridgwater North) and J22 (Burnham-on-sea).

“All traffic held since 06:40.”

Highways England’s live traffic map is already indicating that disruptions could remain on the stretch of motorway until at least 8am.
