M5 traffic LIVE: ‘Car fire’ triggers emergency response as heavy traffic builds – updates

A ‘car fire’ on the M5 southbound has triggered a major emergency response this afternoon (Saturday, February 12).

Photos from the scene show firefighters and police responding to an issue on the Almondsbury Interchange that links the M4 and the M5.

There is queueing traffic on the M4 westbound just north of Bristol that appears to be connected to this incident.

Traffic monitoring service Inrix says: “Car fire on M5 Southbound from J15 M4 J20 (Almondsbury Interchange) to J16 A38 Gloucester Road (Aztec West). Traffic is coping well.”

It adds about the M4 north of Bristol: “Queueing traffic due to accident on M4 Westbound from J19 M32 (Bristol) to J20 M5 J15 (Almondsbury Interchange)”
