M5 traffic live: Traffic held after crash involving horsebox on Avonmouth Bridge

A crash involving a horsebox has seen all traffic held on the M5 on the Avonmouth Bridge this morning (September 26).

The crash, reported just before 9am, is located on the bridge on the northbound carriageway of the M5 between Junction 19 at Portishead and Junction 18 at Avonmouth.

Traffic is beginning to queue back from the scene, with live traffic maps showing delays.

Traffic monitoring service INRIX has confirmed that two lanes are closed as a result of the collision.

The update reads: “All traffic being temporarily held and queueing traffic due to accident, a horsebox involved on M5 Avonmouth Bridge Northbound from J19 A369 Martcombe Road (Portishead) to J18 M49.

“Cameras show that traffic has been stopped.”

Highways England has also confirmed the incident in a tweet, with traffic officers on their way to the scene.
