Motorists face severe delays after a ‘serious’ crash on the M5, near to Bristol.
There’s currently standstill traffic on the north side of the motorway, between J19 (Portishead) to J18 (Avonmouth).
Police, paramedics and firefighters are at the scene of the collision.
A spokesperson for Highways England said they are ‘working on releasing’ vehicles.
It’s understood the smash first happened around 8:20pm today (Thursday).
Traffic monitoring site Inrix says: “M5 ( Avonmouth Bridge) Northbound closed, stationary traffic due to serious accident, at least one car involved from J19 A369 Martcombe Road (Portishead) to J18 M49.
“Road has been closed at around 20:20, affecting traffic passing Bristol.”
