A man in his 20s who was arrested yesterday (Friday, June 21) following a fatal stabbing has now been released, police say.

A murder inquiry was launched after a man died at the junction of Ashley Road and City Road, St Paul’s, yesterday evening.

Police arrested a man in his 20s near the scene on Friday night – but he has since been let free with no further action to be taken against him.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested in the early hours of this morning (June 22).

Senior Investigating Officer Andy Mott previously called for the public’s help as he and his colleagues bid to work out what happened.

He said: “Even the smallest bit of information could be significant so if you were near Ashley Road, Lower Ashley Road or City Road between 5.40pm and 6pm [on Friday, June 21] we would like to hear from you. Please call us on 101 and quote the reference number 5219139586.”
