A man wanted in connection with an alleged gunshot incident in Bristol has been arrested after handing himself in following a public appeal.

Avon and Somerset Police said last night that Jamal McBean, who had been wanted in connection with a serious incident in Montreal Avenue, Horfield on Thursday, September 3, was in their custody.

The force said he handed himself in at 9pm yesterday.

Officers thanked everyone who shared their appeal or got in touch with information.

The incident allegedly saw two vehicles damaged and a firearm being discharged.

Police then asked the public for their help in finding 20-year-old McBean. They also appealed to him to arrange to hand himself in.

A second man was arrested on suspicion of affray in connection with the incident and was released under investigation.

No one was injured in the incident and after it happened police made a point of reassuring residents that they did not believe there was a risk to the wider community.

They said that they had specially-trained officers on stand-by to respond to any further incidents and the neighbourhood team had a patrol plan in place to provide a reassuring uniformed presence in the area.
