More than 300 new coronavirus cases recorded in Bristol

There have been 531 further cases of coronavirus recorded in the Bristol region in the last 24 hours, according to the latest government data on Monday (July 5).

Bristol saw 308 more cases, while South Gloucestershire recorded 135 further infections and North Somerset 88.

It brings the total number of cases recorded in Bristol to 35,823, South Gloucestershire 17,157 and North Somerset 11,317.

Thankfully, there were no Covid-related deaths recorded in the region in the last 24 hours.

Bristol’s infection rate remains the worst in the South West though, at 361.9 infections per 100,000 people.

South Gloucestershire is recording the third worst infection rate with 228.3 after Bristol and Exeter.

As of 9am on Monday, there had been a further 27,334 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK, the Government said.

The Government said a further nine people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Monday, bringing the UK total to 128,231.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have been 153,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

The total number of vaccinations given in Bristol has reached 496,590, of which 303,093 are first doses and 193,497 are second doses.

The total number of vaccinations given in South Gloucestershire has reached 351,700, of which 204,350 are first doses and 147,350 are second doses.

The total number of vaccinations given in North Somerset has reached 282,495, of which 159,045 are first doses and 123,450 are second doses.

UK-wide, there have been 79,078,081 Covid jabs given in the UK so far, 45,351,719 were first doses – a rise of 77,222 on the previous day.

Some 33,726,362 were second doses, an increase of 111,410.
