
The UK’s new Prime Minister will be announced today (September 5). After weeks of debate, hustings and votes, Liz Truss or Rishi Sunak will be named the next leader of the Conservative Party and the next Prime Minister in an announcement in Westminster.
This comes after Boris Johnson announcement he would be resigning in July. After the name is revealed today, Boris Johnson is expected to resign as Prime Minister and a new PM will be installed.
Mr Johnson is expected to give a speech in Downing Street between 8.30am and 9am on Tuesday before travelling to Balmoral in Scotland to formally resign as Prime Minister.

The new Tory leader, who will be elected today, Monday, will travel to meet the Queen in Scotland before heading back to Downing Street to give a speech at around 4pm.
The new name is expected to be revealed on Monday at 12.30pm. Chairman of the 1922 committee of backbench Conservative MPs, Sir Graham Brady, will announce the result.
