Social media users have leaped to Carol Vorderman’s defence after trolls targeted her appearance.
The Bristol celebrity is offering free maths lessons via her website TheMathsFactor to children aged four to 12 while schools are closed.
Schools have been shut to most pupils since Monday (March 23). ‘Vulnerable’ children and those of key workers are still being educated in schools.
The Maths Factor website is operating for free to support children’s continued learning at home for the duration of the UK schools closure period.
“We want to help you and your child as much as we can,” the website adds. A subscription usually costs around £2 a week.
But instead of praising Vorderman’s move, some cruel trolls have taken the opportunity to criticise Vorderman’s appearance.
However, others on social media users quickly stepped in to defend her.
One person wrote: “Carol Vorderman has literally given away THOUSANDS of pounds worth of her product for free to kids while this crisis is going on and everyone is disgusting towards her cos of how she looks. Remember be kind.”
Another said: “Carol Vorderman offers free maths lessons to kids during all that’s going on, and all adults can talk about is how she looks? This world is actually terrible.
And a third said: “Carol Vorderman is doing an amazing thing for the country. She’s stepping up, so that kids don’t fall behind on maths.
“Anyone criticising her in any way may want to take this time to sort their s**t out and maybe take a look in their own mirror.”
And another said: “I think Carol Vorderman looks great, she’s smart and kind.”
