Person taken to hospital after crash on Bristol main road

A crash on a major Bristol road saw one person in hospital this evening.

The accident, which took place at just before 8pm this evening, was between two cars and saw a massive emergency services response.

Green party councillor for Clifton Down ward, Tom Hathway tweeted a photo of the road after it happened saying: “Car accident southbound on Whiteladies at the moment avoid if possible.

“It looked like it was clearing fast.”

Avon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said that they were called at 7.54pm to a “road traffic collision on Whiteladies Road”.

They sent two crews to the scene, one from Temple and one from Southmead.

A spokeswoman said that on arrival fire crews cleared the road and made the area safe. They added that one person had been injured and taken to hospital by the South Western Ambulance Service.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary said that police were called at 7.45pm and were still on the scene as the vehicles awaited recovery and were causing an obstruction in the road.

They added that one person was injured, but that the injuries are not considered to be serious.
