PLAINVILLE – The Plainville Chamber of Commerce is selling tickets and looking for sponsors for their 38th annual Golf Tournament, coming to Stanley Golf Course Sept. 17.
The tournament will be held Tuesday Sept. 17 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the golf course at 245 Hartford Road, New Britain. Lisa Hubina, membership director, said that the event is the Chamber’s biggest fundraiser of the year. In past years, it has attracted between 80 and 100 golfers.
“We can’t have a Plainville Chamber without the support we receive for fundraisers like this,” said Hubina. “We appreciate anything and everything that people can do to come out and help us out.”
Registration begins at 10 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served on the course and there will also be on course group photos being offered. After golf, at 5:30 p.m., there will be an “awards dinner”, where prizes will be given out.
Prizes will be awarded for “Best Team Score”, “Long Drive” and “Closest to the Pin.” There will also be a putting contest with a $10,000 prize. Gallagher Buick will award a brand new car as a prize for a “hole in one. Gallagher will also be our par 3 sponsor.”
Hubina added that there will also be “lots of raffle prizes by the end.”
“Last year we did really well with raffles,” she said. “We got tons of baskets and lots of people donated lots of different gift cards for local restaurants. One of the raffle prizes people could win last year was an Amazon Echo.”
Hubina encouraged people to participate in the tournament and to support the Chamber.
“Our 2019 event promises to be another day of fun and friendly competitiveness, great prizes and some surprises,” she said. “You just might make a hole-in-one and win a new car.”
Hubina said that major sponsors so far include Thomaston Savings Bank, LaQuerre, Michaud and Company, LLC, Hartford HealthCare, Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine Centers and Premier Portraits LLC.
