BRISTOL – Police are investigating after a person wearing a mask was seen on a resident’s surveillance camera approaching their front door last night.
The video, posted to the Facebook group Bristol Talks, shows the suspect approach the home’s stoop, grab the storm door’s handle and knock on the door. The suspect, wearing a mask and a hood, then looks around several times and appears to use a sleeve to wipe the door handle of any fingerprints.
The masked person has something slung around his or her back. The video cuts off before the suspect leaves.
According to the video’s timestamp, the incident occurred Sunday, around 8:38 p.m.
Bristol police Lt. Richard Guerrera said the resident contacted police, and an investigation has been launched.
Guerrera on Monday morning said he did not have many details, as the incident report has not yet been completed. He added that the suspect could potentially face some kind of charge, which could include breach of peace or trespassing.
“We headed out there,” Guerrera said, “and we’re investigating.”
The lieutenant, a veteran of the police force, noted the bizarreness of the incident.
“It’s not something you see or deal with every day,” he said.
Guerrera also encouraged anyone who experiences something like this to contact police.
“If you feel alarmed or concerned, then you should report it,” he said.
