A man has been arrested following an assault on a police officer in Bristol in the early hours of this morning (January 7). The incident occurred around 3 am on Saturday morning after an officer stopped a vehicle on Tyndall’s Park Road and attempted to search the driver.
The driver resisted the officer and assaulted him, causing injuries which required hospital assessment today. Although the full extent of the officer’s injuries has not yet been confirmed, the officer is believed to have sustained a suspected broken nose.
Avon and Somerset Police say that senior officers are in contact with him and his family to provide welfare and support.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm and a drug-related offence. He remains in custody, and enquiries are ongoing.
