Neighbourhood policing teams in north Bristol are conducting reassurance patrols of the area tonight (Sunday April 3), after a woman was stabbed. Avon and Somerset police has told local residents that if anyone is concerned about what happened, they are being encouraged to speak to local beat officers, who will be patrolling the streets around Southmead.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, following the incident which happened at around 5.40pm this evening. Forensic teams are on the scene of the incident in Ringwood Crescent, and a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset police said detectives would be carrying out inquiries in the area, but reassured the public in the area that it was being treated as ‘an isolated incident’.
“The neighbourhood policing team is also conducting reassurance patrols of the area and should anyone have any concerns, they’re encourage to speak to one of the officers,” said the spokesperson.
“At 5.40pm today a woman in her 20s was stabbed by a man at an address on Ringwood Crescent, Bristol,” the spokesperson confirmed. “The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance and is in a serious but stable condition. A man in his 20s has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and he’s in custody for questioning,” they added.
“A full investigation is under way but at this stage we’re treating this as an isolated incident. Detectives and specialist crime scene investigators remain at the scene carrying out enquiries,” they said.
