Two years ago a van in Bristol was raided and a mobile phone was stolen.

A CCTV image of a man riding a bike wearing a baseball cap and headphones was issued by officers attempting to trace him in connection with burglary in Old Market.

Now, 27 months later, scores of game fans have shared the image on social media because they are so amazed at how much he resembles Blue Scout from Scout Team Fortress Two.

Writing on Twitter, one person said: “Who turned on the realistic graphics setting?”

While another said: “Bruh. I ain’t no snitch, but that’s the blue scout.”

And another fan said: “Public Enemy No. 1 has been found.”

The break-in took place at 11.45am on Friday, August 25 2017 and officers are still searching for the man.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: “The main message from us is we’d ask people who recognise the man in the image to contact us.”

Anyone who recognises the man is asked to call 101 and provide the call handler with the reference 5217194609.
