PLAINVILLE – State police are investigating an early morning fatal accident on Route 72 Thursday.
State police said around 2 a.m., via their Twitter account, that the area from Route 72 east to I-84 east would be closed while the accident was investigated. It was reopened by the morning commute.
State police on Thursday did not identify the person who was killed.
They said the only vehicle involved was a four-door sedan that drove through a guard rail and into a bridge abutment. The car then caught on fire.
The driver was the only person in the vehicle.
State police are asking that anyone with information call Troop H at 860-534-1000
