Tesco store closes in Bristol city centre temporarily due to water leak

A Tesco store in Bristol city centre has closed temporarily because of a water leak.

The Tesco Express on Millennium Promenade by the harbourside was forced to shut its doors to customers this evening (January 27).

A spokesperson for the company confirmed it was because of a water leak.

Tesco’s website shows that the store was supposed to close at 11pm, but a video posted on Twitter at 5.46pm shows a steady stream of water dripping onto the aisles from the roof of the store.

It is not yet clear when the store will reopen.

It comes on the day that Plan B coronavirus restrictions were lifted in England, meaning people no longer have to wear masks inside supermarkets like Tesco.

A Tesco spokesperson said: “Our Canons Express store in Bristol is temporarily closed as a result of a water leak.

“We are working hard to fix this issue and are sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
