Traffic stopped after M4 lorry fire as heatwave hits – updates

Traffic has been stopped in both directions on the M4 due to an ongoing lorry fire.

The fire is located between Junction 15 at Swindon and Membury Services, according to Highways England, and was reported just after 2.30pm.

Drivers caught in the queues are already being advised not to leave their vehicles as the promised UK heatwave moves in.

The service tweeted: “M4 between J15 Swindon and MemburyServices traffic is stopped in both directions due to a lorry fire.

“Please approach the area with caution and if you are in the stopped traffic please do not leave your vehicles.”
