Travel updates as traffic light failure causes delays in Bristol

Bristol commuters are expected to be hit with delays this morning (September 21) after traffic lights have failed in Easton. There is heavy traffic around Lawrence Hill Roundabout around the A4320 Barrow Road at A420 Lawrence Hill.

Travel reporting system Inrix said: “Heavy traffic due to traffic light failure on A4320 Barrow Road at A420 Lawrence Hill (Lawrence Hill roundabout). On the roundabout.”

Elsewhere across the city, essential refurbishment on Avon Bridge began on Tuesday (September 20) and caused traffic chaos.

The repair work has led to the closure of one lane on each side of the carriageway on Brunel Way. Traffic information network Travelwest warned to expect long delays at rush hour yesterday on the Portway southbound and Hotwell Road westbound.

Drivers have been warned to seek alternative routes where possible as the city centre was gridlocked yesterday evening due to the works at Cumberland Basin. This had a knock-on effect on the buses, which were severely delayed in the area.
