Two men arrested after vehicle caught driving on wrong side of the road

Police have arrested two men after a vehicle was caught driving after a vehicle was spotted driving on the wrong side of the road.

A Seat vehicle was first seen by officers at Avon and Somerset Police being driven on cloned registration plates on the M32 in Bristol on Thursday, June 30. After traveling eastbound along the M4 Wiltshire Police said vehicle left the motorway at junction 16 and headed towards Swindon town centre but was seen to swerve to the wrong side of the dual carriageway travelling towards oncoming traffic.

The force said the vehicle did not collide with other vehicles but it mounted the grass verge and the occupants fled into Blagrove Industrial Estate. Two men were quickly located by Wiltshire Police officers in the area.

A 20-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle. A 23-year-old man from London was also arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle in addition to aggravated vehicle taking without consent, failing to stop, dangerous driving and driving whilst disqualified.

Both were remanded in custody at Swindon Police Station Gablecross and have since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
