A van flipped over during a crash in Bristol city centre today (July 7). The vehicle was pictured on its side on Newfoundland Street this afternoon at 5pm, with police in attendance.
The road, which runs between the Bearpit and the M32, was blocked at just after 4pm following the crash. Police confirmed that it was the only vehicle involved in the collision and that no one was injured.
Avon Fire and Rescue Service were also at the scene while recovery work took place. Its official Twitter account urged drivers to avoid the road but confirmed the vehicle was made safe.
The service tweeted at 4.18pm: “We are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision involving one vehicle on the M32 Bristol outbound. No persons have been injured. We urge people to avoid the area while we deal with the incident.”
And a tweet at 4.29pm added: “Crews have made the vehicle and scene safe. We can confirm that firefighters are due to leave the scene shortly. The incident will be handed over to Avon and Somerset Police.”
Traffic remained “very slow” at 5.20pm because of the recovery work, according to road monitoring site Inrix. The website said there was congestion for all motorists on approaches to St James Roundabout, and that the incident was affecting traffic in and out of Bristol.
