It’s taken drivers almost one hour to travel just two miles in east Bristol as roadworks have been causing havoc across the area.
And to compound motorist’s frustrations, Crews Hole Road’s works are set to last until next Friday (November 22).
Works are taking place between the entrance to Springwater Park Trading Estate and Butlers Close.
However, shutting this major route has had huge repercussions on surrounding roads.
One driver said: “It normally takes me around 10 minutes to travel down Summerhill Road to the Lawrence Hill roundabout but since Monday it’s taken me almost an hour in the morning rush hour traffic.
“We were barely moving along Summerhill Road and all the side roads were packed with cars too,”
One woman, who normally travels by bus from her home in Speedwell, said she has been forced to walk.
“It took so long getting to work on Monday that I decided to walk today,” she explained.
“Getting home was even worse. I get the bus from Old Market and the number six just drove past because it was too full.
“When I finally got on a bus, traffic wasn’t moving at the roundabout leading to Church Road. The journey took an hour and half when it normally takes 30 miinutes.”
Traffic monitoring site Inrix says this evening: “Queueing traffic on A420 Lawrence Hill in both directions from A431 Summerhill Road (St George) to A4320 Barrow Road (Lawrence Hill roundabout, Barton Hill). Due to traffic diverting around the planned closure of the Crews Hole Road.
“Also affecting the Blackswarth Road / Chalks Road.”
