Woman taken to hospital after fight at city centre car park

A man has been arrested and a woman has been taken to hospital with head injuries after a fight at a city centre car park.

Officers were called just before 4.30pm on Saturday, October 3 by members of the public to reports of a fight at Trenchard Street car park, in the city centre.

In a statement, Avon and Somerset Police said: “A woman in her 40s has been taken to hospital for treatment to head injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

“A man, also in his 40s, was arrested nearby on suspicion of assault and remains in police custody.

“Initial witness reports describe a small group men and women involved in the incident inside the car park.

“Officers are grateful to the witnesses who intervened and called the emergency services.”

The statement stated the investigation was in its early stages and that it was not yet clear how the woman’s injuries were caused.

An eyewitness said they saw two police vans, five police cars and two ambulances at the scene.
