GUESTS enjoyed a wonderful evening last night at the relaunch of William’s Food Hall in Nailsworth.

The Fountain Street venue has been completely refurbished and owners Ed and Helen Playne were keen to share the new look with residents.

Members of the Nailsworth community, including mayor Jonathan Duckworth attended the event.

Award winning interior designers Concorde BGW carried out the works, which include a new wood panelled cocktail bar, more comfortable banquette-style seating, oak tables and chairs upholstered in leather, new coastal wall art and softer up-lighting, as well as large chalkboards to advertise the catch of the day.

The shop has been fitted out with a new fish slab and three new large display refrigeration units surrounded by hand-crafted timber shelving for dry goods.

The new look even includes repurposed cabinets from the cellar of a French chateau, rebuilt in situ at William’s.

William’s food hall has been serving the people of Nailsworth and beyond for over 40 years.

Business founder, William Beeston launched what was then William’s Kitchen in 1975.

His hugely successful delicatessen and fish market helped put Nailsworth on the map as a celebrated foodie haven.

Voted one of Rick Stein’s ‘Food Heroes’ and named one of Matthew Fort’s Five Favourite Places to Shop, William’s went from strength to strength and was sold to local family Ed and Helen Playne on Mr Beeston’s retirement in February 2014.

Demand for the celebrated seafood eatery has grown year on year since 2014 and the former restaurant lacked the capacity to meet demand.

The refurbishment has increased the number of covers from 35 to 68 and evening opening hours have now been extended to every Friday and Saturday evening.

The restaurant will also be open for lunch from Monday to Saturday with the £12.50 for two courses Monday deal set to continue.
