IT has been a difficult year for the people of Stonehouse but, not as bad as the people of Ukraine.
I was therefore moved at the Armistice Day parade in Stonehouse when representatives of the Ukraine were asked to lay a bouquet of flowers at the memorial.
An individual to my right started an applause which rose into a huge crescendo.
No mayor could be prouder then I was right there.
So many people struggling financially but, still gave some thought for others far away.
And that is what I know Stonehouse will be doing over the holiday period.
Already the council has begun a winter welcome project to give residents somewhere warm and welcoming to go in the cold weather. We shall be asking residents to look out for vulnerable people during the inclement weather.
Even a kind word can be priceless during these hard times.
So, can I wish all those in Stroud district the seasons greeting and a hope for a better new year.
