A ROAD closure was put in place on the A429 near Cirencester following an incident involving an aircraft yesterday, Thursday.
The A429 near Kemble was closed in both directions following an incident involving a light aircraft that has overshot the runway at Cotswold Airport.
Two people – the pilot and a passenger – were taken to hospital as a precaution, say police.
The road was closed for a number of hours to allow the removal of fuel and debris.
PC Paul Brewster said: “The A429 is likely to be closed for some hours to allow investigators from the Air Accident Investigation Branch to attend the scene and for the carriageway to be made safe.
“Thankfully no one was seriously injured or killed.
“We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have dash cam footage to contact us.”
It was announced on Cotswold Airport’s Facebook page that the aerodrome – which includes the AV8 Restaurant – would be closed for the day.
Cotswold Airport declined to comment further on the incident.
