A DRINK-DRIVER who tried to run away from police had to be tasered, a court heard.

Steven Fletcher, 34, of Woodlands Close, Bisley, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol, resisting the police, driving without insurance and without a valid licence on November 3, on New Church Street, Tetbury.

He was found to have 76 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 35 micrograms.

At a hearing at Cheltenham Magistrates Court on December 17, Fletcher was ordered to have treatment for alcohol dependency and given a four-week curfew, preventing him leaving his house between 8pm and 6am until January 13.

He was also banned from driving for three years, and ordered to pay costs totalling £175.
