A FLOOD warning has been issued for Stroud today (Monday).
The Environment Agency has issued a red alert for the River Frome at Brimscombe and Thrupp.
A red alert means: Flooding is expected – immediate action required.
The agency team says they have noted river levels rising at the Brimscombe river gauge as a result of recent rainfall and they are expecting flooding of property, roads and farmland in the area.
A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: “River levels remain high at the Brimscombe river gauge as a result of recent rainfall.
“Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland continues.
“We expect flooding to be affecting properties and roads in the Brimscombe and Thrupp area.
“Further rain is forecast over the next 48 hours. We are closely monitoring the situation.
“Our incident response staff are checking defences. “Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.”
