A MAN from Cainscross arrested in a joint police operation has appeared at court accused of involvement in a plot concerning a sawn off shotgun.

Tom Wood, 39, of Stanton Road, Caincross, Stroud, along with Gavin Fisher, 32 and Lee Fisher, 31, both of Oak Drive, Kingshill, Dursley, and James Ashton, 30 of Grafton Street, Liverpool, are charged with conspiring with Levi Fraser, 23, of Heath Court, Dursley, and others unknown, to possessing a sawn off shotgun on February 28, 2018.

Cheltenham Magistrates were told that the men were arrested following an incident in Liverpool when Levi Fraser was arrested by armed police and the gun was found in the boot of his car. He has since admitted possessing the gun and was jailed for 27 months at Liverpool crown court in July 2018.

He had gone to Liverpool to collect the gun and return it to Gloucestershire, it is alleged.

The four defendants yesterday spoke only to confirm their names, ages and addresses and were bailed to appear at Gloucester Crown Court on March 5.

The men were arrested as part of a joint Gloucestershire and Merseyside police operation.
