Cashes Green FC folds after 74 years

Despite a late recruitment drive, Cashes Green FC has folded ahead of the new season.

Members of Cashes Green FC had sent out a plea for new players in a desperate bid to save the historic club.

In recent weeks the first team squad – the only side left – had 11 players committed before the new season.

The club – which was due to celebrate its 75th anniversary next year – has a rich history, including winning the County Cup in the 1956/57 season.

“It is with deep regret that we have decided to fold as a club after 74 years of existence,” read a statement on the club’s social media page.

“It was great battling with lots of clubs over the years and we wish them all well for the future.”

“We would like to thank those who helped to share these messages.”
