BIG changes to bus services in and around Stroud are to be introduced by Stagecoach West from Sunday, August 4.

The changes are being introduced in response to customer feedback, changing travel patterns and congestion.

The bus company, which this year celebrates 25 years serving Gloucestershire, is hopeful the new services will make longer-distance journeys faster and more punctual for its passengers.

The upcoming changes will introduce a new 64 service running between Stroud, Stonehouse and Gloucester half-hourly on a new faster route into the city via Quedgeley, Cole Avenue and Stroud Road.

As well as this, users of the 63 service between Forest Green, Stroud and Gloucester will see an increase in frequency on Sundays with the service now running every hour.

Residents of the new Great Oldbury development in Stonehouse will also see the introduction of an hourly bus service, linking them to Dursley and Stroud.

Students travelling towards Cirencester for college will benefit from eight new routes across the Stroud area, with number 52 running at new times through the day to meet lessons and create links for shoppers.

James O’Neill, commercial manager for Stagecoach West, said: “We are introducing these changes to reflect the changing demands for travel around our network.

“We ask customers to visit the Stagecoach Bus website to check their journey before travelling on the August 4, as the majority of timetables have changed.”
