By day Ella Gibson is serving luxury lunches to the staff of Cirencester’s wealth management experts St James’s Place and at the weekend she is breaking national records as one of the country’s best archers.

At just 19 years of age Ella has already represented Britain in her discipline of compound archery at both youth and senior level.

She has competed all over the world including winning gold in team and second individually at her outdoor debut at the Youth European Cup in Italy 2018, as well as later that year earning gold again in team the Youth Euro Championships in Greece.

Within 3 months of picking up her first compound bow two and a half years ago she broke a national record.

Since then Ella has also broken European and World records; two junior team world records, and a European record of 149/150 for Head to Head matches.

Ella works for national catering company Relish as she is self funded but has to divide her time between doing this and heading off all over the world for competitions as well as training at the Team GB base at Lilleshall National Sports Centre.

“This year I have been selected for both teams (youth and senior) so it is incredibly busy,” Ella said.

“I am extremely grateful to Relish for being flexible with me.

“I would like to become a full time archery athlete but funding for this discipline is extremely hard to come across – it would be great to get some sort of business sponsorship going forward.”

Philippa Sawyer is the director of Relish and is very proud of Ella’s achievements.

“She works incredibly hard and deserves all the success she gets,” Phillipa said.

“Sometimes we forget we are working with a sporting star.”

This summer Ella is off to Romania, Shanghai, Antalya, the Netherlands, Berlin and Spain to compete in Senior World Cups, the Senior World Championships as well as a Youth European Cup and the Youth World Championships.

So far in this outdoor season Ella has brought home team bronze at the Senior World Cup in Antalya.
