Simon Ambler, of Ashcroft Road, stole a purse worth £30 and its contents including £60 cash, while in a shop in The Parade, Swindon, on April 11.

The 44-year-old indicated a guilty plea at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on June 8.
Ambler was ordered to pay compensation of £90, a surcharge to fund victim services of £95 and costs of £50 to the Crown Prosecution Service – leaving him with a total bill of £235.

A community order was also made with a rehabilitation activity requirement.
