CIRENCESTER MURDER PROBE: Bail extended for two suspects

POLICE officers have been given more time to investigate two murder suspects in connection with searches at properties in Cirencester and Swindon.

A bail extension has been granted for the pair arrested on suspicion of murder last month.

Specialist Gloucestershire police officers carried out searches at a property on St Mary’s Road in the Beeches area of Cirencester and Wingfield, Stratton, as part of a historic murder investigation.

Dog handlers from Devon and Cornwall Constabulary were also at the scene.

“The investigation relates to an incident that did not take place recently and while we cannot give further details at this time we can reassure the community that there is no threat to the wider public,” a spokesman said.

Wiltshire Police has confirmed there is no link to Christopher Halliwell, currently serving two life sentences for killing Becky Godden-Edwards and Sian O’Callaghan.

The pair will now return to police on December 16. Enquiries remain ongoing.
