Cirencester snow update as temperatures to fall to sub-zero

The Met Office has forecast no more snow for Cirencester this week, but temperatures will remain low.

Today’s forecast (Monday, December 12) indicates that temperatures will reach a high of just -1C, with lows of -2C tonight, .

Tuesday’s highest temperature will be 1C, then dipping to -2 over night.

Wednesday daytime will also see a highest of 1C, but will then dip to -5C overnight.

Thursday will be slightly warmer during the day, rising to 2C, but plummeting to -6C overnight.

And Friday will have a high of 2C too, then fall to -3C overnight.

The UK health security agency (UKHSA) has issued a cold weather alert for England, urging those with pre-existing medical conditions to heat their homes to at least 18C.

But for many, amid the soaring cost of living, this will not be possible.

The alert is currently in place until Friday, December 16.

Dr Agostinho Sousa, Consultant in Public Health Medicine at UKHSA, said: “Cold weather can have serious consequences for health, and older people and those with heart or lung conditions can be particularly at risk.

“If you have a pre-existing medical condition, you should heat your home to a temperature that is comfortable for you. In rooms you mostly use such as the living room or bedroom, try to heat them to at least 18°C if you can.

“Keep your bedroom windows closed at night. Wearing several layers of clothing will keep you warmer than one thicker layer.”
