Country Dogs Boarding Kennels offers dog wedding packages

A FAMILY in Oldbury on Severn is offering dog wedding packages – designed to make sure furry friends can be part of their owners’ big day.

These days, it’s not unusual for couples to want their pets to be part of their wedding.

But for many, figuring out details like who will be responsible for taking care of their pooch during the ceremony has put them off.

This is where the Jessop family from Oldbury on Severn come in.

The family founded their own kennels – Country Dogs Boarding Kennels – in June 2021.

The business is a real family affair, with Joanne, her husband Michael, and eldest daughter Kayleigh jointly at the helm.

Joanne Jessop said she decided to set up the facilities after she couldn’t find any where she wanted to leave her own pets.

Now, as well as offering expert care for up to 30 dogs, one of the more unusual services at the kennels is the special wedding day package.

“We were recently asked if we were able to have two dogs to stay the night before their owners’ wedding,” explained Joanne.

“The lovely couple wanted their two fur babies bathed trimmed and blow dried and brought to their special day for the wedding service and photographs.

“Of course, having a salon on site is perfect for this and we could help with this request,” said Joanne.

Country Dogs Boarding Kennels has an on site grooming salon where they have an ICMG qualified professional dog groomer ready to treat all their canine guests to a bath and pamper.

“In fact, through this experience we realised that this was a service we were able to offer and so ‘wedding with your dogs’ was born.

“So, if you would like your dog at your special occasion we can accommodate them before your big day, prepare them as you would like and bring and accompany them for the service and photographs.

“When you would like them to retire we can bring them home to the kennels for however long you request.”
