A CORONAVIRUS outbreak has gripped a care home in Cirencester, and the Standard has been told that three residents have died.

It’s believed that around 20 residents at Hunters Care Home on Cherrytree Lane have tested positive, along with most staff members.

Three residents have also died from Covid-19, the Standard understands.

A spokesman for Hunters Care Home said: “We have done everything possible to contain this virulent virus and we are very grateful to our residents, their families and friends for their support.

“The general manager and his team are working closely with the CQC, Public Health and Infection Control teams, all of whom are happy with the procedures in place at the home.

“The team continues to put their all into caring for our residents and the situation is improving as each day passes, with some residents due to end their isolation next week and 96 per cent of our residents having now had at least the first part of the vaccine.”
